Edinburgh Airport has announced that almost 17 million passengers travelled through the airport in 2025, the first time ever at a Scottish airport.
The airport is part of the VINCI Airports network, and last year recorded 16,980,588 passengers passing through. The increase in passenger numbers is attributed at least in part to the new routes which began in 2025.
These included:
• Air Canada introducing a new route to Montréal
• JetBlue’s new summer service to Boston
• The return of American Airlines’ summer service to Philadelphia
• Hainan Airlines’ year-round route to Beijing
• 10 new easyJet routes
The airport has already announced new routes and airlines for 2026, such as American Airlines adding New York to its destinations, as well as extending its Philadelphia service into the winter season, and Luxair entering the Scottish market with its seasonal route to Luxembourg.
This year is also set to be an exciting one for the airport as it heads towards a significant expansion project.

Starting from June 2023, the service will operate up to daily during the summer peak, and continue three times weekly into the winter season until January 8. It is currently planned to return in early spring 2024. The photo is an Air Canada Boeing 787
