Detectives are appealing for information following a wilful fire in Livingston.

Around 2.25am on Wednesday, 31 December, 2025, emergency services were called to a report of a vehicle on fire on Heatherbank in the Ladywell area.

The fire was extinguished and there were no reports of injuries.

Detective Constable Chris Watson said: “This reckless act could have had far worse consequences. Thankfully no one was hurt but it has left the occupants of the property shaken.

“It’s vital we trace whoever is responsible and I’m appealing for the help of the public.

“Were you in the Heatherbank area in the early hours of Wednesday, 31 December and saw anyone acting suspiciously? Do you have private CCTV, doorbell or dash-cam footage which could assist the investigation? We’d like to hear from anyone with information.”
