The A1 southbound between Meadowmill and the A199 junction has been closed after a collision that took place shortly before noon today Friday 16 January 2026.
Emergency services received a report at of the crash at 11.55am and are currently in attendance.
Drivers are being asked to avoid the area if possible. The northbound carriageway remains open.
It is not known at this time whether there are any injuries.
Traffic Scotland posted online:” They said: “The #A1 is CLOSED SOUTHBOUND due to a road traffic collision.
“Drivers are advised to use an alternative route and expect delays.
“The NORTHBOUND carriageway remains OPEN.”
A police spokesperson said: “Around 11.55am on Friday, 16 January, 2026, we received a report of a crash on A1 near Tranent. Emergency services are in attendance.”
