Livingston manager David Martindale promised fresh blood as he bids to keep his men in the William Hill Premiership, and winger Joshua Zimmerman has been confirmed as a new signing.
The 24-year-old has joined the club for an undisclosed fee and he links with international team mate Joshua Brenet and the Curacaoan joins from Dutch side TOP Oss on a three-and-a-half-year deal.
He started his career in The Netherlands before moving into Belgian football and then back to Dutch football. He has spent two seasons for TOP Oss, making 60 appearances and scoring seven goals.
Zimmerman is likely to be followed by others and Martindale’s men go in against Dundee United in the Premiership on Tuesday night (19.45) at the Home of the Set Fare Arena after their 4-2 home defeat by champions Celtic on Saturday.
It was a game in which Martindale (pictured) felt disappointed at the outcome. Why? Because he felt Livingston created enough chances to get more from the game.
He also did not feel that Celtic should have been awarded a penalty and added that The Lions posed an attacking threat for the majority of the second half.
Martindale said there were positives in the performance against Celtic and added: “We need to tidy up in our own box and in offensive areas. Sometimes you need a wee bit of luck, but the January window is going to help us strengthen.”
United arrive in West Lothian having been unbeaten in their last four games, but the men from Tannadice have won only two of their last 14 fixtures, a run that includes eight draws, including the 1-1 draw at Aberdeen on Saturday.
