Derek McInnes thought Hearts were good value to collect all three points in their home clash with Kilmarnock in midweek. Bruce Anderson didn’t agree as he slammed the ball home after a goalkeeper fumble on 90 minutes.
McInnes said: “You are not there until the final whistle. We parked ourselves in their half, I thought we were good. We had spoken about trying to get more crosses in and ask the question of them, I am just looking for more end product from that.
“We spoke at half-time about one of two little things, playing into the strikers a bit more, and it was an absolutely brilliant finish from Lawrence Shankland (for the Hearts goal), playing on the shoulder, lifting it over the goalkeeper.
“Sometimes 1-0 is enough, and 1-0 should have been enough. You see Celtic. They get the job done, keep a clean sheet don’t make any mistakes, and we needed to do that.”
The head coach believes his men should have got the win over the line in the William Hill Premiership. He added: “We still needed to work the goalkeeper more, I thought we were a bit wasteful. When we arrived in certain areas our combination play should have been better.
“1-0 should have been enough.”
