Pettycur Bay’s annual Festive Market has raised nearly £400 for charity.
The event, a staple in the Holiday Park’s calendar, which traditionally kicks off the Park’s festive activities, took place on 30 November. Held in the Images Entertainment Suite at the park, it brought together 34 different stallholders from across the community.
With the money raised through the charity tombola, donations will now be given out to Pettycur Bay’s three designated, adopted charities – the RNLI, Guide Dogs for the Blind and The Wolf Hirschhorn Trust.
“We are once again able to donate to our three worthy house charities, all of whom receive money throughout the year from us, as a result of various on-going fundraising activities and events – including our Open Weekend in May, our Race Night in the summer, and, this Festive Market,” said Janet Murray, General Manager of Pettycur Bay Holiday Park.
“Regarding the Guide Dogs for the Blind, we have already raised enough to participate in their “Naming a Guide Dog” initiative twice, which is a fantastic way of helping the Charity cover the significant costs involved in the upkeep and training of puppies. Ultimately this results in getting the puppies into the homes of the blind and partially sighted,” added Janet.
“In fact, we have been so successful in fundraising for Guide Dogs for the Blind, that we are onto fundraising for naming a third puppy.”
Janet was keen to thank everyone who came along to the Market, together with all the local stallholders.
“Our stallholders put a great deal of hard work into making their stalls look amazing,” she said. “It’s important to shop local, and events like this really help.”
She finished by saying: “We’d also like to remind local people that we are a drop-off point for Mission Christmas, the Radio Forth charity that donates toys to children across the area. They have told us that they are struggling a bit this year, and still need many more contributions of toys, so please, if you can hand them into us here, unwrapped, we will pass them on. We know that any donation, however small, will be greatly appreciated by this worthy initiative.”
