A Dalry Primary pupil has been announced as the winner of Angus Robertson MSP’s Christmas Card Competition.
Sumika, a P3 pupil at Dalry Primary School, has been announced as the winner of the annual Christmas Card Picture Competition run by Edinburgh Central MSP Angus Robertson, in partnership with The Edinburgh Reporter.
Each year, a primary school within the Edinburgh Central constituency is invited to take part in the competition, with pupils asked to create a Christmas-themed picture based on a set theme. This year’s theme was Friendship.
For 2025, pupils in P1–P3 at Dalry Primary School took part, producing a wide range of festive artwork. Sumika’s winning entry, a drawing of three snowmen, was selected by The Edinburgh Reporter as the standout image.
Angus Robertson MSP said:“I’ve been blown away by the creativity of Dalry Primary pupils and I thank everyone who took part for the time and effort they put into their drawings. All of the entries were brilliant, and I know it was really tough to choose a winner.
“I’m delighted that Phyllis Stephen, Editor of The Edinburgh Reporter, selected the winner of this year’s competition. She spends much of her time reporting on Edinburgh’s world-class artistic and cultural life, so it is high praise indeed to have your work chosen.
“Hearty congratulations to Sumika for winning this year. It is a beautiful drawing of three snowmen who are clearly great pals. The theme of friendship is especially important at this time of year, when many people come together with friends and family.”
The winning image will be used as Angus Robertson MSP’s official Christmas card and will be sent to MSPs in The Scottish Parliament, including the First Minister and the Presiding Officer. It will also be distributed to thousands of constituents across Edinburgh Central and shared on social media.
Mr Robertson added: “I wish all constituents a very happy festive season, and my very best wishes for the New Year.”
