Livingston’s winless streak continued when they were beaten 3-1 in West Lothian by an improving Dundee United side.
A single in the first half was followed by two goals inside the final four minutes to secure the three points for the Tannadice team.
Zac Sapsford counted after 33 minutes from close range and that goal separated the sides at the break in bitterly cold conditions at The Home of the Set Fare Arena.
However, the Tannadice team should have been further ahead against the league bottom-markers and Dario Naamo could have added to the tally as he enjoyed space down the right wing.
It was Jerome Prior, Livingston’s goalkeeper, who denied him at one stage, but the scoreline stayed the same until the break.
Jim Goodwin’s men sensed a win here and they began the second period in the same manner as they finished the first-half.
Will Ferry who drove them forward and his cross to the back post found Sapsford, but he failed to finish.
Then Goodwin’s men were denied by a post following a short corner, Craig Sibbald hitting an upright before Prior was in action saving from Sapsford as United continued to dominate.
However, Livi broke and Robbie Muirhead’s shot was parried and the United goalkeeper was quick to block Connor McLennan’s rebound. That gave home fans hope.
That was however extinguished with an own goal from skipper Ryan McGowan with four minutes of regular time remaining. Ferry crossed into the crowded goalmouth and Prior’s punch hit the Aussie defender and rebounded into the net.
Substitute Amar Fatah added a third, sending the ball home into the far corner after an impressive run, with the clock on 90 minutes.
Livi refused to give up and McLennan netted into injury time for a consolation strike as United moved up the table and are unbeaten in their last five outings.
Livingston, however, remain rooted to the bottom, four points adrift of Kilmarnock and now nine behind third-bottom St Mirren, and David Martindale’s men have now gone 18 games without a win.
