Keaton Jameson fired the game-winner in overtime as Elite League bottom-markers, Fife Flyers, secured a four-point weekend.
It was the Kirkcaldy combine’s second overtime win of the weekend having edged Manchester Storm 6-5 on Friday in the North-West to end an 18-game losing streak.
On this occasion, it was a double from Josh Winquist in regulation time which set up the welcome home win and cheered the club’s success-hungry fans.
Skipper Garet Hunt (pictured) declared: “We’re coming together.”
Fife fans celebrated their first home league win of the season and their first set of back-to-back wins since March 2024, and it has been a long time coming.
Hunt felt his men played well throughout the game against one of the league high-flyers and he added: “We responded well when they came out and scored and we stuck to it.
“That’s the most important part, we’re finding our way as a team.”
He added: “We’ve not doubted anything within the locker room, even in games we’ve lost we’ve had the effort.
“This weekend guys are starting to believe and we’re buying into what Jamie Russell (the club’s head coach) has been saying.”
Earlier, Shane Owen started between the pipes for Flyers and it took the home side only 53 seconds to take the lead, Winquist netting past Christian Stoever with Jameson and Ethan Somoza setting up the chance.
It took Devils until 28min 24sec to level, Kohen Olischefski scoring, but Fife bounced back to the lead for a second time, Winquist assisted by Garet Hunt and Somoza. Time: 32min 38sec.
The scoreline stayed that way until 44 seconds of the final session when Cedric Lacroix scored their second to set up a grandstand finish.
