City of Edinburgh Trampoline Club’s Holly Allfrey will fly out to Spain on Monday.
She has been selected to represent Great Britain at the FIG World Age Group Competitions from 13-16 November, in Pamplona.
Holly will compete in double-mini trampoline in the Womens 17-21 age group.
The 38th FIG Trampoline Gymnastics World Championships have already started at the Navarra Arena in Pamplona (ESP) with more than 350 gymnasts representing 39 national gymnastics federations competing across 16 medal events, including a mixed synchronised trampoline event for the first time at a world championships.
Those events include men’s and women’s individual and synchronised trampoline, double-mini trampoline and tumbling, an all-around competition that involves all three and a team event for men and women.
At the British Championships last month Holly gained a gold medal in the age group and qualified for the women’s event where she finished a highly commendable fourth. To qualify for that final Holly took gold in the 17-21 age group women’s double mini trampoline competition also in Telford.
Holly was one of a number of members of the club, who operate out of both the Lasswade Centre and Meadowmill Sports Centre, to achieve success at recent Scottish Championships in Dundee and a gold medal there did full justice to her abilities.
Qualifications will be held in two stages: in the first stage, 24 gymnasts will qualify for the second stage (subject to a maximum of three gymnasts per federation); in the second qualification stage, the top eight gymnasts will qualify for the finals (subject to a maximum of two gymnasts per federation).
For the team competition, the best three exercises (one per gymnast) will be taken into account for the qualifications.
