Emergency services at scene of incident at tram stop on Constitution Street

Constitution Street is currently closed at the junction with Queen Charlotte Street in connection with police incident.

Numerous police vehicles, ambulances and a fire engines are at the scene which is at the tram stop there.

An air ambulance has now landed on Leith Links.

Officers said that the call related to reports of ‘concern for a person’.

A police spokesperson said: “Constitution Street is closed at the junction with Queen Charlotte Street in Edinburgh following a report of a concern for person received around 1.35pm on Friday, 7 November.

“Emergency services are in attendance and the public are advised to avoid the area.”

Edinburgh Trams tweeted: “Trams are part route between Airport and Balfour street due to an incident at the shore tram stop.

“Ticket acceptance is in place with @on_lothianbuses on the number 16 between Newhaven and Balfour Street. Apologies for any inconvenience. #Edintravel

Police Scotland update: “Constitution Street in Edinburgh has re-opened following a report of concern for a person received around 1.35pm on Friday, 7 November.

“Emergency services attended and a 66-year-old man was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment.

“The public are thanked for their patience.”
