Fife Flyers ended their 18-game losing streak with a 6-5 overtime success at Manchester Storm, now success-hungry fans hope the road win can spark their season.
Jamie Russell, Fife’s head coach, admitted it was a “rollercoaster night” coming from 3-2 behind to lead 5-3 and then being pegged back to 5-5 and then into nerve-schredding overtime.
The Canadian, who admitted his blood pressure fluctuated through the Elite League match at Planet Ice Altrincham, praised his short-bench side who entertain high-flying Cardiff Devils at The Fife Ice Arena on Sunday (17.00).
Giordano Finoro was the game-winner on 63min 57sec after Ethan Somoza won a face-off and the stats show that Fife outshot Storm 22-20 on the night.
