Derek McInnes believes that Hearts need to concentrate on their William Hill Premiership clash at Kilmarnock on Saturday (17.45) and not about facing Celtic at home on Sunday, October 26 (noon) in a televised game at Tynecastle.

Hearts’ head coach, who moved to Gorgie from Kilmarnock earlier this year, stressed that the game at Rugby Park required their full attention.

That fixture will come too soon for injured defender Frankie Kent (pictured by Nigel Duncan) and 23-year-old midfielder Eduardo Ageu. McInnes also feels that playing on an artificial surface would not be beneficial for the Brazilian who made a brief appearance during the second half when Hearts visited Livingston earlier in the campaign.

Norwegian defender Christian Borchgrevink is, however, back in training leaving goalkeeper Ryan Fulton and midfielder Finlay Pollock on the injury list.

McInnes, named Glen’s Premiership Manager of the Month for September, has been delighted with the motivation of his team and their approach overall.

He told Hearts TV that he believes there is more to come from the squad and McInnes added: “I’m confident we have the potential to keep winning games and, hopefully, keep ourselves up at the top end of the table.

“That’s a big challenge for us, and each game will test that.”

Meanwhile, the Jambos trip to Pittodrie to play Aberdeen is on now Sunday, November 23 (3pm) and will be televised by Sky Sports.
