Hibs goalkeeper Raphael Sallinger is enjoying his recent string of consecutive starts for the Hibees.
The Hibs keeper signed in the Summer but had to bide his time before making his competitive debut against Livingston in the Premier Sports Cup in August.
After impressing against Rangers in the following round of the League Cup in September, the 29-year-old has cemented his place in David Gray’s starting XI and has now started the last four consecutive matches.
He said: “As a player, all you want to do is play football. I have had to be patient, the Gaffer told me to be ready for it when I got my chance – and to take on the responsibility. As a goalkeeper, you know only one of us can play at a time, that is the nature of the business, so I knew I needed to work as hard as I could in training.
“As a goalkeeping department, we are one small family, Sammy is great with us all and makes us all feel part of it – whether that is me, Smudge (Jordan Smith) or Muz (Murray Johnson). It is a great place to be and I feel like it was the right decision to join Hibs when I did!”
Following the international break, Sallinger is fully focused on getting back to winning ways following a frustrating start to our league campaign.
“I am the kind of player who can’t wait to play in the next game. It was a disappointing result last time out for us, but we have had two weeks to move on from it and we’re all ready.
“We’ve spoken a lot about how we can do better and what we can improve on. I think when you look back at all the statistics from games; we have had some good performances, but we need to start turning these performances into results.
“We have been unlucky in a few games, we have played well in halves, but we need that full 90-minute performance. Football is about those small details and sometimes you just need a successful result and things can change quickly – that is what we are aiming to do at the weekend.”
