Scotland Demands Better – march on Saturday
A large turnout is expected at a march through the city centre on Saturday.
There are calls from trade unions to join the march at the flag poles at The Scottish Parliament at 10am.
This is a march to demand fair pay, properly funded public services, and action on the rising cost of living.
The march is billed as family friendly and the route will go from Holyrood up the hill to the Meadows where there will be music, speeches, food and children’s activities.
There will be rolling road closures from 10am to 2pm on Horse Wynd and Queen’s Drive at Horse Wynd which will be closed 10am – 11.30am.
Royal Mile, New Street, Bank Street, George IV Bridge, Forrest Road, Teviot Place and Laurison Place closed 10.30am – 2pm.

Storytelling in the garden
The Friends of Hopetoun Crescent Garden have been in touch to say they are hosting one of the storytelling sessions in the Scottish International Storytelling Festival (SISF) on Saturday from 10.30am to 11.30 and then from noon to 1o’clock.
Michael Kerins one of the storytellers will be dressed as a Viking in keeping with this year’s theme of the Lights of the North. Michel will tell children the story of Eric the Viking and another of Wee Tom and later at noon Marie Louise Cochrane “Mrs Mash” will entertain the children.
These are free sessions HCG are hosting so we are encouraging people to come along.and enjoy the fun.
Tea, coffee, hot chocolate and cold drinks will be available and donations welcome to help maintain the garden which was part of the third site of the Botanics until 1820.
Bring a folding garden seat if you wish, but tarpaulins will be available for children to sit on.

Talking about dangerous cyclists
Scott Arthur MP said that in the last year, residents in Edinburgh South West have regularly raised the issue of dangerous bikes with him.
He is now holding a public meeting to discuss the dangers and what can be done.
On Thursday 13th of November, the Edinburgh South West MP along with Catriona Munro who is Labour candidate for Edinburgh next year, will be holding an event to discuss this issue. I hope this event will be an opportunity for residents to share their concerns and experiences, as well as discuss potential solutions to this issue.
Catriona and I will be joined by a representative from the community policing team, as well as local councillors.
If you would like to sign up to the event, or share your thoughts if you are unable to attend, please use this link: https://forms.gle/cFdxEaiBj7qmya496
