The council is being asked to improve road safety in Kirkliston as a matter of urgency.
People living in the village have lodged a petition with the council about the dangers on Station Road, the High Street and the surrounding areas. The petition is in the name of Mrs R Guiller and has 247 signatories at present.
The petition remains open until Sunday 4 October for public support.
In the document there are allegations that there have been “countless near misses” but no meaningful action has resulted.
The petition reads: “What is particularly difficult for residents to understand is the inconsistency in road safety provision throughout the village. Significant traffic calming measures, speed bumps and crossings have been installed in other areas, such as Queensferry Road, while the original part of the village continues to be left without comparable protections despite carrying substantial traffic volumes and accommodating vulnerable road users.”

Earlier in the year a second petition was heard at the Transport and Environment Committee meeting on 18 June 2026. The separate petition asked for traffic calming measures in the Gateside Estate.
