Princes Street is closed between South St Andrews Street and North Bridge after a suspicious package was delivered to a local business.

Officers were called to a commercial property on Princes Street around 1pm today, Saturday 6 September 2025.

Firefighters are also in attendance and the vicinity has been cordoned off.

The building concerned has been ‘evacuated as a precaution’ according to officers and diversions are in place.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: Around 1pm on Saturday, 6 September, 2025, we received a report that suspicious package had been delivered to a commercial premises on Princes Street, Edinburgh.

“The building has been evacuated as a precaution.

“Scottish Fire and Rescue Service are also in attendance and the package is being examined.

“A cordon is in place.

“There are road closures in place along Princes Street between South St Andrews Street and North Bridge.

“Diversions are in place.”
