It’s been a busy weekend for the North East Support Team special constables who have been working with Leith community officers.
Officers on foot patrol spotted a male kicking a common stair door on Leith Walk.
He was immediately challenged and found to be wanted on three outstanding court warrants.
He was arrested and held in custody.
In another incident, officers quickly arrived and arrested two males involved in a disturbance on Leith Walk.
The individuals have been charged and will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal for several matters, including public order and hate crime offences.
Working with council licencing officers, they visited licensed premises across Leith.
In total, 12 premises were inspected over the weekend.
Officers have also been patrolling Leith transport links and will continue with high visibility patrols and engagement on public transport infrastructure throughout the coming months.
Special constables in Police Scotland are unpaid, volunteer police officers who have the same powers as regular officers and are a vital part of community policing.
They provide support in various ways, from deterring antisocial behavior and supporting events to assisting with searches for missing people and ensuring community safety during increased demand.
