A section of Princes Street at South St Andrews Street has been closed off due to a report of youths throwing items from a roof.
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 5.45pm tonight, Wednesday, August 6.
A police helicopter has been seen circling the area.
A police spokesperson said: “Around 5.45pm on Wednesday, 6 August, 2025, police received a report of youths throwing items from a roof on Princes Street, Edinburgh.
“Officers are at the scene and enquiries are ongoing.”
Lothian busses have been diverted from the area and trams are currently only running between Edinburgh Airport to the West End and Picardy Place to Newhaven.
