NSPCC fundraiser group needs you
National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) Scotland is establishing a new Community Fundraising Group in Musselburgh, Portobello and East Edinburgh.
A spokesperson said: “We are seeking enthusiastic and creative volunteers to play a crucial role in raising vital funds for our services such as Childline and Speak Out, Stay Safe.
“We will only need volunteers for one to two hours a month, and we offer a flexible arrangement designed to fit around work, family and social life. Key activities include engaging with neighbours, local organisations and businesses to spread awareness, organise small-scale events or campaigns, and inspire donations that ensure our services remain free for those who need them most.
“Participants will receive comprehensive support, including practical fundraising advice, promotional materials and ongoing guidance from our dedicated Community Fundraising Team. Beyond the personal reward of helping to keep children safe, volunteers gain valuable experience in communication, organisation and leadership, all while connecting with like-minded individuals who are passionate about making a difference.

Circus at the Fringe
Bernie Dieter has stormed back into Edinburgh with Bernie Dieter’s Club Kabarett in which Bernie leads an all star cast featuring Jarred Dewey, Jacqueline Furey, Iva Rosebud, Soliana Ersie and Danik Abishev.
The show is on at Underbellys’s Circus Hub on the Meadows at 7.20pm each day.
FEDAGA show
The Federation of Edinburgh and District Allotments and Gardens Associations (FEDAGA) is the representative body for affiliated Allotment Garden associations in and around Edinburgh. The organisation currently represents all Edinburgh Council sites as well as many independently run sites.

Tollcross Police Box has a new owner
The Eldorado Taqueria has taken up residence at the Tollcross Police Box this week but only until 17 August – which they say is a “new chapter” for their little taqueria.
They serve Mexican dishes and drinks made from family recipes passed down through generations. Full details of where they will be on their website here.

Edinburgh Art Festival
Tonight is a late night at the EAF Pavilion.
The EAF Pavilion is home to artist studios, from both the EAF25 programme and Outer Spaces’ national network. As part of EAF X Outer Spaces: HOST residency programme, visitors can explore artists’ studios every Saturday. The pavilion will be open until 8pm on Wednesdays — go along and enjoy an art-filled evening.
its 21st Edition, EAF puts down roots in the EAF Pavilion, transforming the former office building, supported by Outer Spaces. Located centrally on Leith Street, the Pavilion acts as a hub for the Festival’s activity, hosting exhibitions, events, and creative residencies through the Summer and beyond.
The Pavilion’s ground floor will also be home to the EAF25 Welcome Space. In this dedicated space, visitors can find information about the programme, books, zines, and wearable art in the Festival Shop. Stop by the Welcome Space for a hot drink and a quiet place to pause, away from the August bustle.
To make the Festival more enjoyable for everyone, the Pavilion is also home to a range of accessibility resources, such as large print guides, ear defenders, and stim toys.
The pavilion is located centrally at 45 Leith Street.
