Bruntsfield Primary School is celebrating its 130th Anniversary this year.
This week Jason Connery unveiled a plaque at the school on behalf of his late father Sir Sean Connery, who is a former pupil.
Sean Connery visited Bruntsfield Primary School in 1995 and is quoted as saying he “wouldn’t have been successful without learning to read at Bruntsfield Primary School”.

The plaque reads: “Sir Sean Connery 1930 – 2020. Academy Award winning actor most famous for being ht first and best James Bond was educated at Bruntsfield Primary. Founder in 1971 of the Scottish International Education Trust. “My first leg break came when I was five years old. I learned to read. It is that simple and that profound.”

Ex Bruntsfield staff member…Sean Connery visited in 1991…not 1995…when he was given the Freedom of the City.
