Swedish defenceman Jonas Emmerdahl returns for a sixth season with Fife Flyers and bosses believe he will anchor the squad’s defence.
He’s the fourth signing by the new ownership and the 33-year-old is delighted to have clinched a deal for another season at Kirkcaldy.
He added: “I’ve been here for a while now so can almost call Fife my second home. I have seen the huge potential that this club has.
“It’s exciting times ahead and I want to be a part of it.”
Max Birbraer, Flyers’ president and general manager, said: “The first thing that comes to mind when you watch Jonas play and speak to him is his professionalism.
“He leads by example on and off the ice. His mature hockey sense, being hard to play against and making the right plays under pressure will anchor our defensive core.”
Emmerdahl first arrived in the Kingdom at the beginning of the 2019/20 season but he played for a third tier German club at the start of last term before answering the call from then bosses of the struggling team.
Described as a two-way defenceman with good hockey sense Jonas has logged 65 points (19 goals and 48 assists) across 248 Elite League games and he joins Shane Owen, Mason Alderson and Scottish-born utility player, Ben Brown, a product of Dundee Stars’ junior development programme, in the squad.
