Former West Lothian Council offices will be sold to a successful local firm to support the expansion of their business.

The council’s Executive approved the sale of Arrochar House in Livingston’s Almondvale Boulevard to Prestige Leisure UK Limited (PLUL) at their meeting on Tuesday.

The former council building has been sold for just over £800,000.

PLUL have been established in West Lothian for more than 20 years.

They provide unbranded leisurewear to printers, embroiderers and promotional companies across the UK and Ireland who customise the garments to create corporate uniform, school, work and team wear for businesses.

The firm currently employs around 100 staff at their distribution centre in Houstoun Industrial Estate in  Livingston.

A report to the Executive said: “PLUL aim to grow their business and the purchase of Arrochar House would allow them to further expand their operations in West Lothian.

“They propose to use Arrochar House as their head office in connection with their existing distribution facility in Houston Industrial Estate.”

Leader of West Lothian Council Lawrence Fitzpatrick said: “I welcome the decision to approve the sale of Arrochar House to Prestige Leisure UK.

“The council no longer required the building for service delivery, so it’s great to know it will remain in active use by a valued local employer looking to grow their business.”

Arrochar House was declared surplus after it was no longer required for council services, and marketed for sale.

A spokesperson for the council told the Local Democracy Reporting Service: “Income from the sale of surplus properties generates valuable income for the council, which can then be reinvested in essential services.”

Council officers said the offer from PLUL was the highest bid received, and represents best value for the council.
