International Women’s Day

There are many events in Edinburgh which focus on women or which are organised by women. Today the International Women’s Day theme is Inspire Inclusion.

We listed the many events in and around Edinburgh which we could find on Monday in this article.

But tonight we recommend a trip to The Causey. You can read about the vision that people have for the area on their website. But what may astound you is that they have been working since 2007 to change the road layout and make it a more inviting place to sit, read a book, enjoy a coffee (and at one time they turned it into a beach). There have been various initiatives for the last 17 years – and it began mainly because of the inspiration of one woman, Alison Blamire. Read about that inspiration here.

And our photo today is of Nicola Benedetti, CBE, Director of the Edinburgh International Festival, who has launched her second festival programme in a series of events this week culminating in a VIP event at The Hub on Thursday night.

‘Sir’ David Gray supporting the Hibs Foundation

‘Sir’ David Gray has left many Hibs fans with the greatest footballing memory of their lives, and now he intends to leave a lasting legacy to help people in the local community.

He made a pledge to support the Hibernian Community Foundation during his testimonial year, and to raise valuable funds for a cause close to his heart, he’s created a special, unique challenge for Hibernian FC supporters.

On Sunday 5 May, 2024, David Gray will be cycling the route the Scottish Cup trophy made from Hampden Park to Easter Road Stadium in 2016, after scoring his injury time winner!

And there’s an opportunity for a limited number of Hibernian FC supporters to join him.

Funds raised will enable another 180 children with autism and other neurodiverse conditions play weekly football with Team United.
