A police investigation is underway after a 34-year-old man was attacked in Tollcross on Sunday evening.

The man is currently in a ‘serious condition’ in Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

He was allegedly stabbed in a fight that took place in a lane that runs between Glen Street and Panmure Place close to the Meadows.

The scene was subsequently cordoned off by forensic officers.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said:

“About 6.45pm on Sunday, 13 September, 2020, police and emergency services were called after a 34-year-old man was seriously injured during an altercation in Panmure Place, Edinburgh.

“He was taken by ambulance to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary where he is detained in a serious condition. Enquiries are ongoing.”
