Edinburgh Rugby have received the backing of one of Scotland’s most recognisable financial institutions as Scottish Building Society join the club’s sponsor family for the remainder of the 2019-20 season.
Established in Scotland’s capital city in 1848 – 24 years before Edinburgh faced Glasgow in the first-ever inter-district derby in 1872 – Scottish Building Society are the world’s oldest building society and, like Edinburgh Rugby, are embedded in the city’s rich history and culture.
Reacting to today’s sponsorship announcement, Edinburgh Rugby Managing Director Douglas Struth, said:
“We’re absolutely delighted to receive the backing of Scottish Building Society and it will be a privilege to carry their logo on our kit as we return to rugby with back-to-back derbies against Glasgow Warriors later this month.
“I think it’s fitting that the world’s oldest building society will feature in the world’s oldest inter-city derby – the 1872 Cup – while Scottish Building Society truly are synonymous with Edinburgh – a perfect fit for this club.
