Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious road crash which occurred in the Musselburgh area of East Lothian around 10.35am yesterday morning.

A blue Vauxhall Corsa was driving west on the A199, North High Street, and was involved in a collision with three vehicles.

Emergency services attended and the 83-year-old male driver of the Vauxhall Corsa was taken by ambulance to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Sergeant Jennifer Forbes from Lothian and Scottish Borders Road Policing Unit said: “The 83-year-old driver sustained significant injuries and enquiries are ongoing to establish exactly what happened.

“I would appeal to anyone who was on the road around 10.30am on Thursday morning, particularly motorists with dashcams, to please get in touch if you have information that could assist our investigation.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Lothian and Scottish Borders Road Policing Unit through 101, quoting incident number 0997 of Thursday 27 August 2020.”
