Ian Blackford, Leader of the Scottish National Party (SNP) in the House of Commons has once again displayed his Hibs’ memorabilia during his video call at today’s Prime Minister’s Questions.

Last week two signed Hibernian footballs and a card depicting the club’s famous 3-2 victory over Rangers in the 2016 Scottish Cup final could be seen in the background.

Afterwards he had to respond to one false report suggesting he was displaying his support for Celtic.

He tweeted in response: “Well as you all know it is the first team to wear the green, the mighty @HibernianFC who are my beloved.”

He later added: “I will of course be instructing my press staff to take this up! As the late great Lawrie Reilly said, I was born a Hibee I will die a Hibee.”

The camera angle this week showed an iconic signed photograph of Franck Sauzee, David Zitelli and Mixu Paatelainen celebrate John O’Neil’s goal for Hibs in the October 2000 derby against Hearts at Easter Road.

O’Neil scored the fifth goal that night in the match which ended 6-2 to Alex McLeish’s side.

Also on the wall was a photograph of George Best emerging from the Easter Road tunnel and a caricature of a player, thought to be Eddie Turnbull.

Last year the Ross, Skye and Lochaber MP mentioned former Hibs’ star ‘Super’ John McGinn whilst congratulating Walsall North MP Eddie Hughes on his address to parliament.

He said: “I must say to the honourable member for Walsall North, I know he is a great football fan, I thought he would have perhaps mentioned Aston Villa. I know they are not having the best of times, but I hope he is enjoying watching John McGinn that we gifted from Hibernian to him last year.”

Hibs fans have taken to social media to compliment the MP on his taste of office furniture.
