A police investigation is underway after four robbers wearing balaclavas forced their way into a flat and attacked a 62-year-old man between 9pm and 10pm on Saturday night.

The intruders escaped with various items of property following the robbery in Forth Drive, Livingston in West Lothian and the man suffered minor injuries.

The men were wearing dark clothing and their faces were covered with balaclava type hats.

It is thought they may have made their getaway in a silver hatchback car.

Detective Constable Kenny Alexander, of West Lothian CID, said: “This was a callous, unprovoked attack which has left the man involved injured and badly shaken.

“I would ask anyone who was in the Forth Drive area of Craigshill and saw anything suspicious around the time of this incident to get in touch.

“Likewise, anyone who has information that may help in our investigation should call West Lothian CID on 101, quoting incident number 4536 of Saturday, February 22, or make a call anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
