Police were called to a collision between two buses which took place close to the tram stop on York Place, at about 8:35am this morning.

Damage was caused to the rear of a number 16 LRT bus and the front windscreen of a National Express bus.

One person, believed to be a passenger on the number 16 was treated by Scottish Ambulance Service staff at the scene for minor injuries.

A police spokesman said: “We received a report of a crash involving two buses on York Place at around 8:35am.”

The nearside lane was blocked for a short period but other vehicles were able to pass, albeit slowly and there was some disruption to the flow of traffic.

A National Express spokeswoman said: “An incident occurred this morning in Edinburgh city centre between a National Express coach and a bus, resulting in minor damage to our vehicle.

“There were no passengers on board the coach and the driver was not injured.”
