D&G AUTOCARE STRENGTHENS PRESENCE IN THE CAPITAL WITH LAUNCH OF A NEW GARAGE AT SOUTH GYLE

D&G Autocare, Scotland’s leading independent garage group, with sixteen locations across Fife, Tayside, the Lothians and the Central Belt, has increased its presence in the capital with a new £100k garage facility at South Gyle Crescent.

The multi award winning garage group, launched in Dunfermline fifteen years ago by George Simpson and David Hunter, already has a garage in Edinburgh, based at Stevenson Road. The new South Gyle garage, headed up by experienced autocare professional, Kenneth Miller, offers a full servicing provision, and includes an MOT station for both Classes 4 and 7.

Multi awarding winning D&G, which claimed an industry first two years ago when it launched an innovative vehicle management app, now employs a total of 150 people, and has a £10 million turnover.

Commenting on the launch of the new South Gyle garage, Operations Director, Peter Wood said: “We are delighted to offer Edinburgh’s motorist another garage carrying the trusted D&G name. Our Stevenson Road garage has built up a strong following and we are confident that this one can do the same. South Gyle is a busy, vibrant area for both domestic and trade customers,  and in just three weeks of opening we are already attracting a great deal of passing trade.

“Each garage we open represents an overall investment in equipment and staff of over £100,000, especially if we include an MOT station, which we have in all of our garages. We are extremely pleased to welcome Kenneth Miller to our group. He has over twenty five years of experience in this industry and is very well known.

In 2014, D&G Autocare headed west with its first garage in the West of Scotland, opening its doors in East Kilbride. Since then it has also opened a garage in Airdrie, and established itself in another new area of Scotland in 2017, with its Dundee garage.

Peter Wood continued : “We continue to grow, and see scope for further expansion.

“We are a wholly owned Scottish company, which we believe is really important. We employ local people at each location, and are always keen to get involved in the grass roots community sponsoring local clubs and associations. This works well for us in spreading awareness of our branding and services.”

D&G Autocare’s sixteen garages cover all servicing requirements from MOTS, tyres, exhausts and brakes, to suspension & clutches, and can replace all car parts. They can supply tyres and wheels, and have DVSA Authorised Testing Facilities (up to Class 7 Light Commercial Vehicles) in all branches with company cars, fleet and lease all catered for.

The company was voted “Best Scottish Group” in 2016-17 by customers of www.whocanfixmycar.com, one of the country’s leading autocare search websites.

Customers can download D&G’s app for free from the company’s website at www.dandgautocare.co.uk, or through Google play and iTunes. The app provides automatic reminders a week before tax, MOT or car insurance is due to expire.

D&G continues to operate an apprenticeship scheme for both trainee mechanics and administration staff, with eight young apprentices across the group.
