Last Saturday Murrayfield Dafs Cricket Club  held a memorial day for Ian Shiels a club stalwart who died a year ago.

A memorial cricket match was played in amazing April weather and the “Shielsy bench” was unveiled by Cricket Scotland’s Gordon Drummond with Ian’s family from the South of England present.  They were joined by Ian’s friends, colleagues and cricketers.

In the evening a celebration dinner was held in the Murrayfield Hotel with Leigh Fell from Caritas Neuro solutions and Dan Proverbs from Brothers In Arms delivering poignant talks about depression anxiety and suicide prevention.

The evening was a huge success with organiser, Iain Martin commenting  that “it was a perfect day that Shielsy would have loved”.
