A 38-year-old man has been arrested in connection with two attempted murders and a serious assault which took place near to the Apex City of Edinburgh Hotel in the Grassmarket in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Two women aged 58 and 60, and a 37-year-old man who works at the hotel and came to the women’s assistance were all taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh following the attack.

The accused man is expected to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court later today.
