Division One (men): Grange 6, Aberdeen Standard 1

Frank Ryan scored a hat-trick as Grange opened their defence of the Division One men’s title by brushing newly-promoted Aberdeen Standard aside with ease.

The Edinburgh combine won 6-1 and it could have been more after they led 5-1 at the break. They dominated the first 35 minutes at Peffermill.

Grange, who had two imported debutants in their squad and two teenagers, including a 15-year-old goalkeeper, eased off in the second-half.

The men from the North-East were rewarded with a strike from Adam Walker ten minutes into the period.

Martin Shepherdson, Grange’s stand-in team manager, said the game allowed their new players to bed in but there was much to work on in training.

Ryan opened the scoring after ten minutes and Austrian-born Clemens Rusnjak netted three minutes later.

Razor-sharp Ryan netted again after 20 and 25 minutes and Australian Dylan Bean completed the scoring in the first period after 31 minutes.

Walker pulled one back before Bean netted his second after 55 minutes to complete the scoring at Peffermill.
