On 19 September 2018 you can attend an information session at the Virgin Money Edinburgh Lounge, where you can learn how to become a Dementia Friend.

This information session is part of a series all intended to challenge attitudes about dementia. The events are supporting the Dementia Revolution which is a one year campaign between Alzheimer’s Society and Alzheimer’s Research UK. Virgin Money have made this their charity focus for the year.

One of the aims of the Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Friends is to try and stop people with dementia from feeling socially isolated.

There are 2.5 million Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Friends changing the way the world thinks and acts about dementia.

The event at the Edinburgh Lounge in St Andrew Square is free.

Jennifer Payne, Corporate Partnerships Officer at Alzheimer’s Research UK, said: “We’re so glad to have to have Virgin Money standing with us this year, to help lead the charge towards a cure for dementia. The Virgin Money Edinburgh Lounge is giving the public a unique opportunity to join the Dementia Revolution by attending one of these sessions.

“Hosted by a Dementia Friends Champion, you’ll learn more about dementia and the small ways you can help to make a positive difference to people living with the condition. From telling friends about the Dementia Friends programme to visiting someone you know living with dementia, every action counts. We hope to see you there!”

Jason Clarkson, Lounge Manager at the Virgin Money Edinburgh Lounge, said: “The Virgin Money Edinburgh Lounge is delighted to host the Dementia Revolution sessions, kicking off with a talk on Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Friends. You don’t have to be a Lounge member to come along and we look forward to welcoming you on the day to help find out how you can support people in our community living with the condition.”

The talk will take place at 10.30am and light refreshments will be available.
