The exhibition at Birch Tree Gallery on Dundas Street is called Caledonia : Spirit of Place.
It will feature vibrant watercolour and original screen prints by Yorkshire (Masham based artist Ian Scott Massie and sandblasted glass vessels by Julia Linstead from Coldstream.
Ian’s atmospheric watercolours and original screen prints capture the spirit of Scotland: the skylines of town and cities, mesmerising vivid colours at sunset and the subtle greys of rainy days. You can see all the works that will be at the exhibition HERE

Ian Scott Massie
‘I have looked forward to dedicating a whole exhibition to Scotland for many years so I was delighted to be invited to show at The Birch Tree Gallery in Edinburgh for the 2018 Festival Fringe,’ – says Ian.  ‘My father’s family home of Aberdeen, my mother’s of Edinburgh and my travels around the West Coast have been the impetus behind this work, but it has also allowed me to explore a few places less known to me like the Falkirk Wheel and Jedburgh Abbey.’
Julia Linstead, an artist from the Scottish Borders, sandblasts original designs on glass. Julia’s unique etchings mostly focus on floral patterns that are carefully selected according to the shape and colour of vessels and vases hand-blown by Jane Charles, with whom Julia collaborates.
