Yes you read that right. We are not even into our summer gear yet but already you are being made to think of those nights in December when we freeze getting photos and video to you – and you can come along to the city centre and join the biggest party.

This will be the second year that Underbelly have run Edinburgh’s Hogmanay. It was great fun last year – who will headline this year? Well we don’t know yet so you will just have to buy these tickets on trust that the entertainment will be as good if not better than last year!

Underbelly today announced tickets for this year’s Edinburgh’s Hogmanay will go on sale at 10am on Monday 21 May. Tickets can be bought online at www.edinburghshogmanay.com or on 0131 510 0395.

Edinburgh’s Hogmanay is discounting 10,000 tickets for EH postcode holders, twice the number of last year. These tickets will be £20.

Underbelly produces Edinburgh’s Hogmanay and Edinburgh’s Christmas events on behalf of City of Edinburgh Council.

The full programme of events and line-up of performers will be announced in September.

Charlie Wood and Ed Bartlam, directors of Edinburgh’s Hogmanay said: “Edinburgh’s Hogmanay is where the world comes to celebrate the end of one year and the beginning of the new. It’s an international event with a cracking line-up of artists from across the world which we’ll be unveiling over the next few months. But it’s also Edinburgh’s event and so we want to double the number of discounted tickets available to EH postcode holders and acknowledge the goodwill and support of those who live in the city and who welcome the world in through its doors. We hope that the £20 ticket will allow more local people to join the Street Party, the world’s largest new year celebration.”

Councillor Donald Wilson, Culture and Communities Convener for the City of Edinburgh Council, said: “Edinburgh’s Hogmanay is famous the world over as an incredible street party experience and one of the best ways to bring in the new year. It’s an internationally-acclaimed event, drawing crowds from all continents, but it is also uniquely ours. It is Edinburgh’s party and everyone who lives in Edinburgh and wants to be a part of it should have that opportunity. That is why there are special rate tickets available for local people – and why these deals are doubling in number to make this our biggest ‘Hogmanay thank you’ yet to residents.”
