Police are appealing for witnesses after the theft of a purse on Groathill Drive North which took place around 12.30pm yesterday.

The purse was taken from a woman’s hand by a male on a bicycle who then cycled off in the direction of Ferry Road.

The suspect is described as being male, aged in his early 20’s and wearing a blue anorak with the hood up.

The woman was shaken but not injured in the incident. The purse contained a three-figure sum of cash.

Officers are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the theft to please get in touch.

Constable Will Hoppe of Drylaw police station said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area of Groathill Drive North around 12.30pm on Tuesday 22nd May.

“Thankfully the woman was not injured but this was a frightening and upsetting theft that happened in broad daylight.
