The MGA Academy of Performing Arts is now to offer degree courses in Musical Theatre, Acting and Dance Performance as the first independent academy in the capital to do so.

In collaboration with Bath Spa University the academy will offer the courses from September this year.

Drew Gowland, Co-founder and Managing Director of The MGA Academy, said: “For more than a decade, we have been providing students with exceptional training on par with London’s leading dance and drama schools. We are thrilled to now announce that our students will now also receive academic recognition from Bath Spa University when they graduate. Our training has allowed our graduates to build successful, international careers on stage and screen and now they will also leave with a degree, enabling them to pursue professional teaching work and postgraduate level study.”

Mark Langley, Head of Music and Performance at Bath Spa, welcomes this new partnership. He said: “Our aim is always to work with great partners who help us improve and develop our network across the UK. To have such an exciting partner in Scotland is great news for us and for all of the potential students who can get top-quality training for the west end and beyond. We are delighted to be working with The MGA Academy of Performing Arts, and look forward to the possibilities ahead.”

Those with aspirations of working in the performing arts industry will have the opportunity to compete for one of only 30 coveted places on each course to train at The MGA Academy when auditions are held in Edinburgh on Sunday 18 March and in Dublin on Sunday 25 March. Students on the Dance Performance course will initially enrol on The MGA Academy’s HND course before completing a one year top-up degree.
