WeDO Scotland a networking and support community for entrepreneurs launched in Glasgow last night with over 80 entrepreneurs and business leaders in attendance.

The event marked the first new city launch in WeDO’s growth in Scotland.

Established in 2008, WeDO has, to date, been instrumental in supporting and connecting entrepreneurs in Edinburgh.

High on the agenda during the evening was the importance of collaboration, peer-to-peer learning and the benefits of building trusted relationships to help support business growth and the Scottish economy as a whole.

From L to R:  Danny McIntyre of Primestaff & WeDO Glasgow Exec Team Ambassador, Professor John Anderson – Head of SME Engagement at Strathclyde Business School, Belinda Roberts – Founder of WeDO Scotland, Gordon White – of fatBuzz & WeDO Glasgow Exec Team Chair, Brian Williamson of Miigen & WeDO 2016 Lifetime Achievement Award winner & Nick Cohen – pcr & bizanywhere & WeDO Glasgow Exec team Ambassador.

Gordon White, Managing Director of Glasgow-based design and marketing agency fatBuzz and Chair of the Executive Team in Glasgow commented: “I’ve been involved with WeDO in Edinburgh for the past nine years, however as a Glasgow based business, tonight’s launch in Glasgow is something I’ve looked forward to for some time.  The long-established WeDO culture of collaboration, sharing and helping fellow business leaders is one that I know will work very well in the West.  It was great to have such a fantastic turnout of successful business owners and leaders, it indicates there is an appetite for a first-class business networking and knowledge sharing organisation capable of linking ambitious businesses in the East and the West.”

Attendees heard from guest speakers Professor John Anderson, Head of SME Engagement at Strathclyde Business School and Brian Williamson, serial entrepreneur, Chairman of Miigen (UK) the “digital time capsule” where voice and visual memories can be archived & Non-Executive Director of Jumpstart, the UK’s leading R & D tax credit specialists.

Commenting on WeDO’s expansion into Glasgow, Professor Anderson said: “Having worked with and supported Belinda from the start of WeDO nine years ago, I’m delighted that WeDO has launched in Glasgow.  With their collaborative approach to helping entrepreneurs to grow their businesses, I’m confident it will have a very positive impact on West coast business community.  Entrepreneurship and growth are central to Scotland’s economic policy agenda and organisations such as WeDO play an important role in ensuring that business leaders are supported throughout their journeys.”

Brian Williamson added:  “Networking is a fundamental cornerstone of business and in
today’s busy word so many events and organisations are competing for our
attention and our time. The difference with WeDO Scotland is that they display
all the characteristics of a close knot family however they have the strength
and depth of a large organisation. They are without doubt a rich source of
learning and connections.”

In addition to their Masterclasses and Supper Club events in Edinburgh, WeDO will be hosting their Glasgow events at 29 Private Members Club and, for the first time, their
prestigious annual Awards Ceremony & Dinner will be taking place in Glasgow
in November.

Belinda Roberts, WeDO’s founder commented : “It was inspiring
to have so many West coast entrepreneurs joining us last night.  It firmly
demonstrates the abundance of talent that exists in and around the city.
We were delighted with the enthusiasm and tremendous welcome we received and
are excited about embarking on our Glasgow journey.”
