Hearts are set to sign the Scotland striker Steven Naismith on a loan deal from English Championship side Norwich City. The Gorgie club have agreed terms with City to take Naismith until the end of the season. The former Rangers and Kilmarnock striker is understood to have to travelled to Edinburgh to undergo a medical. His move back to Scotland is expected to be confirmed on Thursday.

The 31-year-old, capped 45 times for Scotland, still has 18 months of his contract at Carrow Road to run but has appeared to have fallen out of the first team picture.

Naismith previously played with current Hearts striker Kyle Lafferty at Norwich and also at Rangers.

It is expected Naismith will be in Hearts squad for Sunday’s William Hill Scottish Cup tie against Hibernian at Tynecastle Park.
