Edinburgh Capitals should have two key players available for Wednesday’s Elite League clash with champions Cardiff Devils at Murayfield.

Denis Trakhanov required medical attention after being cut just below his nose by an opponents stick in Capitals side’s 5-3 home league victory over Dundee Stars.

And Pavel Vorobyev did not ice on Sunday after picking up an injury in Capitals’ 8-2 defeat at Braehead Clan on Saturday.

Coach Dmitri Khristich confirmed that both players will be assessed but he hopes they will be confirmed fit.

The Ukrainian-born coach was pleased with the win and with the fact that Capitals scored on four of eight power play chances.

Cardiff travel north after beating Fife Flyers 4-3 at Kirkcaldy on Saturday and but they were edged 4-3 after penalty shots at home to Belfast Giants on Sunday.

They are fifth in the 12-strong league with 21 points from 17 games while Edinburgh prop up the table with six points from 18 fixtures.

Khristich said it was great to win on Sunday but said his team still have a lot of work on.

Capitals scored four goals in three sensational minutes against Dundee, three of the goals coming when they had an extra man with a Stars player in the sin bin.

Khristich added: “It was really good execution of our power play and when that happens you score goals.”

Dundee are also in action on Wednesday entertaining play-off champions Sheffield Steelers and the face-off in both games is 7.30pm
