A police investigation is underway after a dog walker became aggressive towards and threatened a 44-year-old cyclist on a cycle path in Loanhead on Monday.

Earlier that day he made a threatening gesture towards a 48-year-old woman who was driving to work from her home on Park View.

Officers  believe the same man is responsible for both incidents,  and have appealed for help to identify him.

He is between 35 and 45, is 6ft 3in and unshaven. He spoke with a South African accent and had a husky with him.

Constable Emma Yetton, from Bonnyrigg Police Station, said: “We believe the suspect has had a number of exchanges with various members of the public in the Loanhead area and on each occasion he acts aggressively or threatening towards those he comes in contact with.

“Similarly, of you would also like to report having been approached by him then get in touch via 101.”
