Hibernian Ladies goalkeeper Jenna Fife says that she is ‘delighted’ to have been called-up by Shelley Kerr for the Scotland Women’s National Team matches against Belarus and Albania.

Her last call-up was at under-19 for the Scottish national team.

She is hoping to take over from Gemma Fay who is due to retire from international duties after winning over 200 caps.

Fife told Hibernian Media: “I’m delighted to be called-up. I can’t wait, it’s a new, exciting challenge for me and the first time that I’ve been in the national team, so I’m looking forward to it.

“I’ve waited for a while since youth level, since the under-19s, for the call. It’s been a good three or four years since I’ve been in any of the national teams. I can’t wait until the matches come around.

“It’s such an exciting time with the qualifiers coming up as well, so it is a great time to be called-up.

“Gemma (Fay) is an amazing goalkeeper with over 200 caps for Scotland and she’s been great for the squad.

“Now that she has retired there is an extra space going in the squad. I am hopeful that I can fill the gap and being called-up gives me a better opportunity, and from here I will work hard to continue that.

“There is a lot of talent in the goalkeeping position just now, especially the two others who are in the squad. It is going to be hard to get ahead of them in the squad, but we’re all fighting for the same jersey, so hopefully I can do it – but it will be tough.”

Her main focus however is on tonight’s game against Celtic at Easter Road Stadium, which kicks off at 7:45pm.

She continued: “Celtic is always such a massive game. They always give us a good test, so it will be exciting. We obviously need to win it to stay challenging for the league, so it is a big game.

“They are one of the most organised teams in the league. They are strong in every area of the park, so we need to work hard like we always do.

“I think we are such a strong team in every position, so we just need to work hard, communicate with each other and believe that we can win to achieve a positive result.

“Everyone in the squad is hoping we can get a good crowd along to Easter Road for the match.”

Entry to the game is via pay-at-the-gate and prices are £5 for adults and £2 for under-16s.
