Barry Crossan (40) from Edinburgh was sentenced to six and a half years in prison at Edinburgh High Court yesterday after pleading guilty to supplying Class A drugs.

In December 2015 officers searched an address in North Edinburgh and found a large quantity of drugs with an approximate street value of £37,500.

Detective Inspector Alan O’Brien from Gayfield CID said: “Tackling the supply of drugs, and the often devastating consequences it has on our communities, is a top priority and we will continue to take action to identify those involved in drug related crime.

“This type of criminality will not be tolerated and this sentence should send a clear message to anyone involved in offences of this kind that we will actively pursue them.

“We will also work closely with our partners at the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service to stop them benefitting from the proceeds of their criminal activity.

“The public can assist greatly in helping police tackle drug related offences and I would urge anyone with information to come forward by contacting Police Scotland on 101 or contact the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
