Former Motherwell, Falkirk, Dundee United and Ross County defender Brian McLean, 31, has joined Hibs after a brief spell with Brunei DPMM in Singapore’s S.League.

His contract runs until the end of the campaign and he is  eligible to feature in this evening’s Ladbrokes Championship game away to St Mirren.

Nigerian internationalist Efe Ambrose, 28, also signed a short-term loan deal from Ladbrokes Premiership side Celtic until the end of the season.

Hibernian Head Coach Neil Lennon is pleased to have signed both defenders on short-term deals at a crucial time in the season.

He said: “We were a little bit light on bodies in the central defensive position at the minute and bringing in Efe and Brian will fill that void.

“Both have fantastic experience in domestic football here in Scotland, as well as abroad. I know what qualities each of them possess and they will help to bolster the squad as we strive to achieve our goals this campaign
