Police are investigating following a theft on a footpath in Livingston.

The incident happened around 9.20pm on Tuesday, October 18th, on the public path near to Waverley Crescent, Livingston, which runs parallel to the Livingston North railway line.

The 26-year-old male victim was walking along the path when he was approached by a man wearing dark clothing and a dark hooded jacket with the hood up.

On approach he snatched the victim’s mobile phone and rucksack. The suspect then headed in the direction of Knightsridge West Road, before being lost to sight.

The 26-year-old was not threatened and was uninjured in the attack. He subsequently went home and contacted police.

Police Constable Tamar Irvine of Livingston Police Station said, “Thankfully the victim was uninjured, however this type of attack is still unacceptable and we are eager to trace the man responsible as soon as possible.

“We would ask that anyone who was on the public path near to Waverley Crescent on the evening of Tuesday, October 18th, and saw anything suspicious, to come forward and get in touch with us immediately.”
