Almost sixty crimes have been solved as part of an operation to target antisocial behaviour and associated offences in East Lothian over the summer.

Between Monday 4th July and Friday 2nd September Operation Fusion activity throughout the region took place with officers from the East Lothian Community Action Team actively targeting individuals involved in a range of crimes.

During this time 66 reports of violence, dishonesty and disorder offences were investigated, with 59 of these incidents now solved and positive lines of inquiry being followed in relation to the others.

A total of 17 people aged between 13 and 40 have so far been charged in connection with these crimes.

Operation Fusion Activity is set to continue throughout East Lothian and communities are asked to come forward with information that can help identify anyone else involved in antisocial behaviour-related offences.

Chief Inspector Matt Paden, Local Area Commander for East Lothian said: “We recognise the profound impact these crimes can have on our communities and we have been working hard to investigate all of the incidents reported to us and bring those responsible to justice.

“We are committed to keeping East Lothian a safe place to live, work and visit and will carry out further enforcement activity as part of Operation Fusion wherever and whenever it is required.

“If you would like to report ongoing antisocial behaviour or other criminal activity in your area please contact us on 101 or make an anonymous report to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
