Police are investigating following a housebreaking at an address in Wesley Crescent, Bonnyrigg.

The incident occurred overnight between Wednesday and Thursday and resulted in the theft of two vehicles, a blue Hyundai I30 and dark blue Mini One.

Officers are also investigating a further incident in Wesley Crescent, which occurred this morning  around 5.30am.

A dark-coloured Corsa was seen driving slowly along the roadway with its lights off.  A man wearing a hooded top was seen walking quickly behind vehicle.

There have also been a further three housebreaking incidents in the Midlothian area since Tuesday, August 23.  This includes incidents in Auchedinny Road and Harpers Brae in Penicuik and Kinlounch Crescent, Rosewell.

There was also an attempted motorcycle theft at an address in Corby Craig Avenue, Bilston.

Police will be conducting additional patrols in the area to provide community reassurance, however they are also appealing to the public for information.

Sergeant Michele Lindsay at Penicuik Police Station said:  “There have been several housebreakings in the Midlothian area, including this latest incident in Wesley Crescent, Bonnyrigg.

“Anyone with information regarding these incident is asked to come forward immediately.

“Home owners are asked to ensure they have taken all necessary security measures in and around their property.  Make sure you have robust locks, that alarm systems are in place and that you have appropriate lighting.
