Police Scotland have “safely resolved” an incident in the Southhouse area of the capital which took place last night.

A large number of officers were called to the scene in Southhouse Square just after 1800  and the incident was resolved four hours later.

A police spokesperson said: “Police in Edinburgh attended at an address in Southhouse Square Edinburgh around 6.20 pm on Tuesday 17th May after a report of a disturbance. Officers resolved the incident safely around 10.20 pm.”

A 54-year-old man is believed to be receiving treatment.
